  1. Government Gets Back to Business, but Effects of the Shutdown Linger.

After reading this article in the New York Times, I have a better understanding of the real problem that for the past few days has been affecting the leading economic power in the world ( USA), and consequently , all other countries. The lack of agreement between the two American political parties, the Republicans and the Democrats, about the national budget and the level of debt that must be recorded in the same, is incredible. It can cripple a country and have public employees unable to work and therefore unable to provide services to citizens, not cater to tourists, or arrange subsidies for most elemental needs .
On the other hand, the democratic rules that govern this country (and many others) require that the general state budget be approved in the legislative chambers at the proposal of the government (executive). When the party holding the executive is in minority in parliament, there may be situations such as occurred in recent weeks in the U.S., which has concerned financial markets.
American citizens in the article where asked if there should be legislation to prevent this happening again and I think they were right that there should be.. It should not be possible that a country is shutdown by the political game whose deepest intentions are not always known.

  2. Leipzig's Grey Box Strike

Amazon's workers from Leipzig are on strike again because of their low wages, they earn even less than Mail businesses and their working conditions are poor. So they want to extend it to Christmas. Jeff Brezos, the founder, is making a counterstrike opening new shops in Poland (obviously he says that's not a counterstrike). I think they should earn more, at least more than a Mail worker, and the founder must listen to his workers or he will suffer in Christmas campaign.

  3. Companies that people would like to work for

Linkedin has made a top 10 list about the most demanded employers of 2013, on the top of the list we can find Apple and of course Google, both companys have over 70.000 employees. It´s understandable why these are the best ones, on one hand, Apple has recently had an amazing success with their new iPhones. And on the other hand is Google, which is having a great expansion. Google is the best company to work for, mainly because of its working hours flexibility.

  4. Why Monti, despite Merkel, could prove the euro’s best hope.

Although this article is from some months ago, it explains very well the importance of Italy in the European Union, and in the world. It talks about the conclusion of the meeting between the leaders of France, Germany, Spain and Italy in Rome. Monti explained the others leaders that there is no saving the euro without saving Italy, and one of the reasons is that Italy’s huge debt load (120 percent of gross domestic product) makes it exquisitely sensitive to a crisis. Now, he’s technocratic turnaround artist brought in to clean up after the clownish former leader Berlusconi, and free to do what he thinks best for Italy without any concerns about winning the next election.`` It also helps that he has the respectful ear of President Obama´´, the columnist Pearlstein
According with Pearlstein, if Italy tries to stimulate with tax cuts or increased government spending, the effects would be modest at best.

  5. Bill Gates bets on the Spanish construction company FCC

In this article, we note that several companies associated with the famous creator of Microsoft (Bill Gates) have bought a percentage of the Spanish company FCC, this is rare because the Spanish economy is not going very well after the housing bubble in 2008 . Despite this FCC has started building abroad (one subway line in Panama and two subway lines Raid)
Bill Gates bets have made the Spanish company grow 5.4% in the market.
This makes me think that Bill Gates believes that Spain will come out of the housing crisis and the slowdown in construction will be solved, or that he relies on the FCC abroad expansion.

  6. Current tablet market
In the last years, in all the world had started the manufacture of a new type of technology: The tablets. But in this year has started a race between the different companies to manufacture the best-selling tablet. In the podium we can see at the first place the I Pad of Apple with the 32% of the market participation then we have Samsung tablets with a 18% and then we have others like Microsoft, Google, Sony…
I think the best tablet in the market is the I Pad but possible in a near future Samsung tablets could be better than the I Pads of Apple because Samsung is a company that experts believe has great growth prospects. I think Samsung is going to be the new Apple.

  7. Mcdonalds each time worse
Once quarter again, compared with Burger King and another hamburgers companies, Mcdonalds worsened their shares, whereas Burger King improved their shares. Acording to this article, in my opinion, this new isn't false. Somebody says that Burger King has improve and bow is better than Mcdonalds. But I hope that Mcdonalds will improve too and I think that Burger King needs more that improvement to beat Mcdonalds. For me Mcdonalds is the best. I don't care Burger King's improvement.

  8. German 'Bishop of Bling' suspended by Vatican

In Limburg, Germany, a priest has spent $ 42 million on his residence and only has used $ 4 million in church, also used $ 20,000 in the tub.
Pope Francis has suspended the priest to be investigated and the priest has said the reform consisted of 10 projects that would have additional costs.
In my opinion that’s incredible that a priest spend 42 million on the reform and I understand that the Pope stop to the priest.
I like the new pope because he is very humble and I think he will be an exemplary Pope.

  9. McDonald's third quarter earnings up

McDonalds Corp., based in Illinois, is struggling to boost sales as competition is increasing.
Late last year, for the first time in nearly a decade, sales of their products fell.
This led to the company to replace the boss of U.S. business
According to the results of the third quarter, it appears that sales rise again in both United States and in the rest of the world.
But in the fourth quarter, McDonald expects sales to increase a little or be similar to the previous quarter.

  11. Many Americans don´t expect to ever retire

In my opinion, it´s very startling that 37% of Americans think that they will have to work until they literally can´t anymore. Survey respondents say paying the monthly bills is their highest priority, and saving for retirement is less important.
Also, it´s amazing how 42% say that both saving and paying the bills is not possible. As a matter of fact, Americans are great bill-payers but worse savers.
It’s a fact that having a financial plan, regardless of income level, makes to face the future with more trust.

  12. iPhone 5c
This article talks about the new iPhone 5c. It says that most of the people think that the iPhone 5c is being a failure because they thought that it was made for gain market share in developing countries. But they were wrong because the main goal is to boost Apple's margins by cutting production costs. So, actually it is succeeding in that task.
In my opinion the idea that it is to attract customers from developing countries is ridiculous because it isn`t the cheapest iPhone in the market, so I think that it has really succeed.

  13. The teaching gap in third world countries
This article asks the question if the teaching of very poor kids in third world countries is the right education or if the kids really learn or not.
Perhaps kids go to school and they don’t learn the basic education, reading or math – so maybe the problem is that many teachers in these countries don’t know what to teach or how to teach it.
I think the solution for this problem is to develop basic teaching programs for these countries so that kids can learn the essential things they need to know to have an opportunity in life.

  19. Ryanair cuts fees in bid to improve customer service.
After reading the examples of the abuses inflicted by Ryanair to their customers, you can get an idea of what people do to earn money, and the power of small print. The phrase `` cheap is expensive´´ has been demonstrated in this article, which is about the changes the company has made to improve its customer service. But this wasn´t voluntary at all, Ryanair had to cancel several of It´s policies after a Madrid court forced the company considering them abusive. One of the most shocking examples of what Ryanair has done is that They had forced a doctor to pay in full to change to an earlier flight home after his family were killed in a fire. I can´t tell you what to think, but for me, this is a degrading treatment.

This new Google maps lets businesses upload data into Google maps to visualize and analyze it. This cost 5$ per user per month.
Google maps is already the leading online maps service, but it is for free for most costumers and helps the company generate advertising revenue from local advertisers. The new product is a way for Google to generate a different type of subscription revenue from small and medium sized businesses.
Google expects the service to be used for lots of data crunching projects.

  22. Economics students aim to tear up free-market syllabus

There is a worldwide movement, led by students from Manchester College, criticizing the economic theories taught at Universities. They argue that students are being taught neo-classical economic models, and therefore cannot include in their models new assumptions and methodologies. They think the current crises should have been foreseen.
In my opinion being open to new economic theories would give students the knowledge to deal with everyday problems and finding a way to avoid future economic crises.

  26. Can small firms grow too fast?

The article I have chosen talks about how very successful business had a small begining like Ben&Jerri's and also explains the mistakes people who start a business commit when they begin it.

The article questions if small businesses can become succesful really fast.
In my opinion they can but the person that starts the business has to be really responsible so he/she doesn't commit mistakes because of money or opportunities. I think entrepreneurs have to be ambitious and passionate about what they do but always think about money, organization and compromises. If they don't think about their limits like the money they have or the support they have or they act without caution they will never succeed.
From my point of view they also have to know how to sell their product and how to make it attractive so people will buy it.

It has drown my attention because in the last years there has been a great improvement of the way women face business, but there are same business fields as the computer science that are still more commonly seen in men. In my opinion we cannot put the blame on anyone, this may occur just because this kind of jobs appeal more to men than to women. However, there is a clear influence of the TV shows that nowadays is nudging girls towards computer science and similar careers, this is because role models encourage girls´ interest in the science world, for example when they see CSI.
